Bill visited Palm Coast, FL to attend the wedding of John Dixon, a shipmate on the USS Lafayette SSBN 616 from 1966-69. It was a beautiful day for the wedding and it was held in the back yard of John & Vicky Lynn's home. Vicky Lynn is from Virginia, but lived in Burnsville, MN for one year and graduated from Burnsville High School. There were more than 70 friends and relatives that attended the wedding and four were submariners.
Bill also visited with Bob and Evelyn Gillaspie in Debary, FL. Bob was a shipmate on the USS Alexander Hamilton SSBN 617 from 1962-66. They met once since then in 1985 for 5 minutes at the Comdex Computer show in Las Vegas. Bob & Bill played a round of golf with Bob's son Billy. For dinner on Sunday Mar 15 we drove to the coast for an excellent Mexican dinner and we rushed outside to see the space shuttle take off from about 10 miles north of the launch pad. It passed overhead as the first stage separated. This was a spectacular view and a priceless experience.
