Rain Forest Jitney Ride & Skywalk: We travel to the heart of the rain forest on a guided jitney ride that includes a skywalk through the forest canopy. The tour guide provided insight into the nature of Costa Rica’s fascinating and fragile rain forest. At Rancho Cedar onboard a tractor-pulled jitney and we set out on a guided drive into the heart of the rain forest. While keeping an eye out for such forest denizens as keel-billed toucans, howler monkeys, three-toed sloths and blue-jean and green frogs. All we saw was frogs, the tractor made so much noise, I was surprised the frogs didn’t hide. Then to be an observation point with panoramic views of the rain forest and the Banano River. Next we went to the featured skywalk, with a bird’s-eye view of the rain forest (this went from one hill to another and was never over 20 foot high). The rain forest tour was beautiful but disappointing, because we didn’t see animals or birds. The real high point was stopping at a banana plantation for a quick tour.
